Is 4.5% APY a promotional rate? Will it change?
No, it's not a promotional rate — it's the same rate our own employees receive. That said, it is subject to change, generally in response to the Federal Funds Rate or a shift in what our partner banks pay us to hold deposits. We'll always notify you before a change takes effect.
When do I collect interest?
Interest accrues daily based on your current balance and pays out near the beginning of each month.
What if I want to withdraw my money?
It's your money — withdraw it whenever you want, with no fees. Same-day transfers are available for eligible accounts when requested before 6pm PT / 9pm ET, even on weekends and holidays. Other withdrawals typically arrive within one business day.
How hard is it to transfer from savings to investing?
Not hard at all — money can usually be transferred to your cash account in minutes, and invested in minutes more while the market is open.
Is my money safe with us?
Exceptionally safe. Your money gets up to $8 million in FDIC insurance ($16 million for joint accounts) because we sweep deposits across multiple partner banks, each separately insured up to $250,000. Beyond that federal backstop, we secure your money with strong security practices and regular third-party audits.
